Sometimes, events that have occurred in the past can trap you, leaving you anxious and fearful about what is ahead. The past is like a jail cell, surrounding you and preventing you from living in freedom. That freedom, as Jake explains in this TED talk, is the present moment. Originally from New Jersey, Jake is a sophomore at Saint Andrew’s School. Jake is extremely involved in the Saint Andrew's community, participating in various clubs including SASSA, Student Council, Harvard Model Congress, and the Turtle Habitation Club. Jake also traveled with the Round Square program to Thailand. One thing that makes Jake different than his peers is his enjoyment of public speaking and talking in front of big audiences. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

NOTE FROM TED: Please do not look to this talk for medical advice and consult a medical professional before adopting an intermittent fasting regiment. This talk only represents the speaker’s views on fasting, diet, and health. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give organizers are described in more detail here: http://storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/tedx_content_guidelines.pdf

Two-thirds of women 40-59 years old are overweight and more than 1/2 are obese. Intermittent fasting can help women lose weight effectively. And can have profound impact on bio-physical profiles, but also improved self esteem and interpersonal relationships. It is easy to implement, it is inexpensive and flexible.
